Casino Buffets

Las Vegas Dining Guide

Las Vegas Casino Buffets - this town is known just as much for the bright lights of the strip as it is for the all you can eat smorgasbords that many of the casinos offer in Las Vegas. Here are reviews and information on some of the top buffets in Vegas.

MGM Grand Oz Buffet
(702) 891-7777
Daily: 7am - 2:30pm; 4pm - 10pm
Brunch $5.95 ; Dinner $7.95

The food is rather forgettable, but that means it wasn't too bad either. The best part of it is that you get a full pot of coffee at both seating times. There is a prime rib special for dinner and all-you-can-eat shrimp. The Brunch seating features a fresh Belgian waffle station.

Excalibur Round Table Buffet
(702) 597-7777
Daily: 7-11am, 11am-4pm and 4pm-10pm
Breakfast $3.99; Lunch $4.99, Dinner $5.99

The Excalibur buffet offers better than average food and pretty good service. The meals include all the usual buffet items prepared well. Considering the price, it's not a bad deal at all. The decor is nothing to write home about, but the large plates make up for it.

The Luxor Pharaoh's Pheast Buffet
(702) 262-4000
Daily: 7-11am, 11am-4pm and 4pm-11pm
Breakfast $4.49; Lunch $5.49, Dinner $7.49

This is one of the better, and therefore more popular buffets on the strip. The lines are always pretty long, but if it moves quickly (it usually does) then it's worth it. There are a couple of international food stations including Italian, Chinese and very good Mexican. A beverage cart with beer and wine circulates the dining room. The whole place looks like an archeological dig with scattered artifacts and a staff dressed in digging outfits. The good food and clean dining room made this one of our favorites.

Monte Carlo Buffet
(702) 730-7777
Daily: 7-11am, 11am-4pm and 4pm-10pm
Breakfast $5.49; Lunch $6.59, Dinner $8.49

This buffet offers mostly generic food, but has a couple of nice touches. The salad bar is exceptional and the bagels are baked fresh daily. There's an omelet station with breakfast and a rotisserie station with dinner. The usual rotisserie fare includes chicken with London broil or pork loin. There is a large selection of sweets including yogurt and ice cream machines.

Tropicana Island Buffet
(702) 739-2222
Daily: 7-1pm and 5pm-10pm
Brunch $9.95, Dinner $10.95

The usual Las Vegas buffet fare. If you feel like staying in the Trop, you won't be disappointed if you don't expect much. Why not take a break and walk over to the Excalibur, it's cheaper for the same (if not better) food. We admit we might have found the food less digestible because of the garish tropical colors in the dining room.

Bally's Big Kitchen Buffet
(702) 739-4111
Daily: 7-11am, 11am-2:30pm and 4:30pm-10pm
Breakfast $8.95; Brunch $9.95, Dinner $12.95

A good choice for every meal, but our favorite was brunch. In addition to the regular breakfast selections you get all-you-can-eat shrimp. The salad bar is extensive and has fresh items while the entrees are restaurant quality Continental. In addition to good food, Bally's has an elegant dining room. Crystal chandeliers hang overhead while diners sit in comfortable upholstered armchairs.

Caesars Palace Palatium Buffet
(702) 731-7110
Monday through Friday: 8-11:30am, 11:30am-3:30pm ; Sat & Sun 8:30am-3:30pm and daily 4:30pm-10pm
Breakfast $7.95; Lunch $9.95, Dinner $16.95  Saturday Brunch $14.95; Sunday Brunch $16.95

You might think the Sunday Brunch is rather expensive for Vegas, but you won't leave with that opinion. Besides unlimited champagne, there are omelet and carving stations, smoked salmon, casseroles, breakfast items and too much else to mention. All the food is of high quality and is prepared well. Regular meals are just as good, but less elaborate.

Mirage Buffet
(702) 791-7111
Monday through Saturday: 7-10:45am, 11am-2:45pm and 3-9:30pm ; Sun 8am-9:30pm
Breakfast $7.50; Lunch $8.95, Dinner $12.95  Sunday Brunch $13.95

The Mirage has one of the more health conscious buffets. The salad bar is fantastic, offering many light and tasty options instead of the usual artery cloggers. You can't go wrong among their selections, as everything is pretty good. Another lure of the Mirage is that the dining room is a verdant tropical garden. There are palm trees, a fountain with floating plants and numerous flower beds.

Flamingo Hilton Paradise Garden Buffet
(702) 733-3111
Daily: 6-noon, noon-2:30pm and 4:30pm-10pm
Breakfast $6.50; Brunch $7.50, Dinner $9.95  (includes two glasses of wine)

Like a couple of other buffets on the Strip, the food is average but the decor is nice. Let's face it, the food is all going to be about the same quality wherever you go (with a few exceptions). One big factor in choosing a dining spot is the decor. Here, the Flamingo distinguishes itself with a lovely dining room. It has huge windows that overlook waterfalls, palm trees and a pond.

Rio's Carnival World Buffet
(702) 252-7777
Monday through Friday: 7-10:30 & 11am-3pm,  Sat & Sun 7am - 3:30pm, Daily 3:30-10pm
Breakfast $5.55; Lunch $7.77, Dinner $9.99  Saturday & Sunday Brunch $7.99
