Luxor IMAX

Attractions > Overview

The Luxor has IMAX movies to provide a brief distraction from gambling. They offer several different movies in IMAX 2-D and 3-D format, but the real attraction is the "Secrets of the Pyramid" IMAX 3-D motion simulator ride. Although not as good as "Race for Atlantis" at Caesars, "Secrets of the Pyramid" offers some spectacular special effects.

The two-part ride begins as riders become audience members of a live tabloid TV show. Apparently there are strange happenings below the Luxor pyramid and government specialists have been called to the scene. Col. Calggert and Mac MacPherson lead the charge.

This sets the stage for the second half of the ride, where a motion simulator takes you through the pyramid in a fantastic chase sequence. You quickly plummet two miles below the Luxor pyramid and learn that you must retrieve a mysterious crystal obelisk that contains the secrets of the universe. (or something like that). In the process of getting the obelisk, you speed through the pyramid's maze, fight evil forces and save the girl. Not bad for $9.

There are some great sequences, but otherwise it's like the other motion simulator rides in Las Vegas.
